Serve the World!

Opportunity for Service!

Saturday Morning, December 6th
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

We will meet at the new church facility on Walnut Street (Gold’s Gym) at 9:00 a.m. There will probably be some work inside the facility and it will give us an opportunity to see what it looks like and to invest in the future of our church! If there is good weather, we will then travel to a house at the edge of Waynesboro to assist one of our older CrossWalk Church members. Please bring a leaf rake if you have one.

Once we get done, lunch will be on us over at Subway! We will plan on being back to the Walnut Street Facility by 1:00 p.m.

Christmas Party!

Sunday Afternoon, December 7th
12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

After church on Sunday, around noon, we will head over to Pizza Hut, then out for Christmas Caroling at one of the nursing homes, and then back to Sandy’s house for games, snacks, and a “White Elephant” gift exchange.

Have you ever done a “White Elephant” gift exchange? It is a lot of fun! Search around for some thing that you might like to anonymously give to one of the youth in the group. It could be something nice (but not expensive), or something that you got from Aunt Bertha three birthday’s ago that you wondered what you were ever going to do with it. Be creative!! What might be fun, or cause others to be green with envy?

Everybody brings a “White Elephant” gift and puts it “under the tree”. Then drawing numbers, each has an opportunity to choose a gift from under the tree, or to steal someone else’s gift. A person who gets a gift stolen can then choose another or steal! This goes on until everyone has acquired a gift. Who has contributed the most “stolen” gift? Who has contributed a true “White Elephant”? You will have to come and see! If you end up purchasing a small gift, make sure it is inexpensive.

Each person should plan on bringing chips of some kind or a desert dish to share during snack time.

Plan on being picked up our 4:00 p.m. from Sandy's house.

Please sign up soon at the youth table so we can work out details of transportation, pizza, et cetera.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Any questions, please talk to Sandy or Ralph

Alive 2008!

Such energy is rarely found as was present in a group of almost 3000 middle school students from across the region that came together for three days. A group of guys from CrossWalk Church participated in this conference sponsored by MD Metro Youth for Christ in Ocean City.

Lots of fun, lots of fellowship, lots of good music (as we sat in front of the speakers in the convention hall, I put Kleenex in my ears, an old trick, so yes I can still hear), but most importantly a chance to be challenged by the Gospel message by nationally recognized youth communicators.

Runks Runkels (
http://www.runks.com) focused on the reality of “rubbing shoulders” with Jesus and the need for a personal relationship. Joel Sonnenberg (www.joelsonnenberg.com), burned over 85% of his body at 22 months of age and not expected to live, shared with kids a story of overcoming incredible adversity. The group “One Time Blind” (www.onetimeblind.org) performed drama ministry to communicate the gospel message.

Our youth came away contemplating the messages that they heard, impressed with the authenticity of the speakers, and looking forward to next year’s conference!
